Bioluminescence in Action: Monitoring Cell Health, Metabolism, and Protein Dynamics

This seminar highlights a suite of advanced, luminescence-based technologies for investigating cell health, metabolism, and protein dynamics in cellular systems. Promega’s assay platforms offer sensitive and scalable approaches for monitoring viability, cytotoxicity, apoptosis, oxidative stress, and metabolic function, with applications in cancer research and the study of metabolic diseases.

The NanoLuc® luciferase platform, including the HiBiT Protein Tagging System, enables real-time and endpoint tracking of protein abundance and turnover. With applications in receptor internalization, protein degradation, and immune-mediated cytotoxicity, HiBiT supports precise, antibody-free detection of endogenous or overexpressed proteins.

The Lumit® Immunoassay platform complements these tools with rapid, no-wash quantification of secreted proteins, cytokines, and post-translational markers such as protein phosphorylation and proliferation indicators like the newly available Ki-67 assay. Together, these technologies offer powerful solutions for exploring dynamic biological processes with high specificity and throughput. 

In the last part of the seminar, we will introduce you label-free approaches such as live-cell imaging or impedance measurements that can be combined with fluorescent and luminescent assays. This way you can observe and quantify specific markers and also study the morphology of the cells, the junctions between cells and maximize the data output from your precious samples.

Who is the seminar for?

The seminar is open to all interested participants, regardless of their background or age, and is also suitable for university students. However, due to capacity and organizational reasons, registration is required for participation. The entire seminar will be conducted in English.
